Our Story

We didn’t plan to start a brand.

It began when we looked at our closets and realized most of it didn’t feel like us anymore. So we stopped buying what felt off, and started choosing better.

Natural fabrics.
Softer fits.
Clothes we could actually breathe in.

At first, it was thrifted linen and worn-in cotton, pieces that felt like they had stories. And something clicked, clothing is more than how it looks. It’s how it makes you feel.

That’s where Malai was born.

The name comes from malay, the Filipino word for consciousness.

It’s what we carry into every piece — made slowly, in small batches, by Filipino artisans we deeply respect.

Thoughtful clothing that feels like home —
for the woman in transition, learning to slow down, and finding her way back to herself.

If that’s you, we hope you feel at home here.
